This large coffee table edition is the official 50th anniversary celebration of Woodstock with the festival’s creator and founder Michael Lang. It includes hundreds of photographs and documents accompanied by Lang’s fascinating memories and insights into the most famous and successful festival of all time, with images of Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Crosby, Stills Nash & Young, Richie Havens, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Santana, Janis Joplin, Joan Baez, Country Joe McDonald and the Grateful Dead.
The ephemera from Lang's largely unseen archive include the original designs and plans for the event, correspondence, set-lists, information on artists' fees and much more. This wealth of information is accompanied by the best photographs of the event by famous and unknown photographers such as Ralph Ackerman, John Dominis, Bill Eppridge, Dan Garson, Barry Z. Levine, Elliott Landy, Lee Marshall and Baron Wolman, and notably featuring the archive of Henry Diltz. Diltz was the only official photographer at Woodstock and was there for two weeks, from an empty field of cows to first construction, crowds arriving and the aftermath. He also captured onstage performances and behind-the-scenes moments with the many artists involved.
Woodstock is an exuberant volume that conveys the vision, hard work and elusive magic that made up "three days of peace and music."

Good photo book with some writing from Michael Lang which is very interesting. good value for your money. I wish it had more writing material from Michael as I want to know more about those three days. I saw the film Woodstock for the first time when I was 10 years old or so. Since then I have watched the film at least 13 times.

Had to have the Woodstock Book and was elated looking through it not once but at least three or four times. This was a moment during my youth that is forever with me and truly wish the world was still headed in that direction. Such a grand memento that I will cherish always. We sure did have the right idea, eh!!

"Every picture is worth 1000 words", and this inch thick book is filled with such a a diverse subset of all possible Woodstock photos that it's clearly was assembled with care to tell the story of so much of what went on behind the scenes to prepare the Woodstock site, for a concert and then to deal with what to cut out that there was no time to construct, and the overwhelming unexpected crowd size and in order to keep it together peacefully to it's successful conclusion.

I'm really glad I ordered this book, filled with a lot of pictures, plus bits of information of the festival, plus the filming of the movie that maybe not anyone was aware of.
